In his song \u201cWhite Privilege\u201d (2005), Macklemore sings about his experience as a white rapper, including how being white was advantageous in the music industry. In 2016, Macklemore collaborated with Chicago singer Jamila Woods to release the sequel \u201cWhite Privilege II,\u201d in which the first verse depicts his experience at a Seattle protest over the Ferguson grand jury decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson after the shooting death of Michael Brown. Why? Cause I\u2019m white? (laughs) What?
