{"id":18031,"date":"2022-09-12T15:33:19","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T22:33:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.plato-philosophy.org\/?post_type=teachertoolkit&#038;p=18031"},"modified":"2025-10-06T15:17:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T22:17:11","slug":"reality-scavenger-hunt","status":"publish","type":"teachertoolkit","link":"https:\/\/plato-philosophy.org\/teachertoolkit\/reality-scavenger-hunt\/","title":{"rendered":"Reality Scavenger Hunt"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Activity Description:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Break the students into groups of three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put the following list on the board and ask each group to come up with at least one thing that fits each category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Something that isn&#8217;t real but seems to be real<\/li><li>Something that is real but seems not to be real<\/li><li>Something you can&#8217;t tell if it&#8217;s real or not<\/li><li>Something that <em>has<\/em> to be real<\/li><li>Something that is both real and not real<\/li><li>Something that it doesn&#8217;t matter if it&#8217;s real or not real.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>After they have had 15- 20 minutes or so to complete this, come back together and each group takes turns reading aloud&nbsp;one of their items, with the students in the other groups having to guess in which category the item belongs. Points are given for the correct guesses, and the group with the most points at the end wins the game. If a group guesses wrong and wants to challenge the other group\u2019s category choice, they can explain why they think the item should be in another category and see if they can convince the group they are right.
